Press release by TNA in regard to Migor' chaos yesterday
We strongly condemn the show of political intolerance displayed today(yesterday) in Migori during a function attended by H.E. The President, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, Migori Governor Okoth Obado and several other leaders from the region.
We are deeply perturbed and appalled at the lack of respect that was shown through the acts of clearly choreographed hooliganism that took place today in the presence of no less than the Head of State.
We have come a long way as a country to entrench political rights, freedom of expression and democratic space and will not allow these gains to be clawed back by immature politics of the yesteryears.
We hereby appeal to all Kenyans, and specifically our supporters, to exercise political maturity and tolerance and allow all leaders, including and especially our political opponents the respect they deserve as they traverse the country addressing meetings and collecting signatures.
We would also like to appeal to political leaders from all sides to desist from misusing the youth to settle myopic and short term political scores as witnessed today and even yesterday, (Sunday the 7th of September 2013) in Kibra Constituency. Instead, leaders should conduct themselves with decorum and show respect to each other despite political differences.
We reiterate our belief that all Kenyans are free to express their political opinions in any part of the country devoid of intimidation and/or undue interference.
Hon. Sakaja Arthur Johnson, M.P.
National Chairman – TNA.
