The First Lady’s Half Marathon will not be happening this year. The first Lady, Margaret Kenyatta has announced the cancellation of the annual race saying he has never been willing to politicize the Marathon's agenda. This announcement also comes after Kenyans on social media called on the First Lady to cancel the marathon due to the ongoing doctors strike. This year, The First Lady said she was preparing to celebrate with Kenyans and thank them for supporting the Beyond Zero campaign. This will not be happening after all. ''However, I have never been willing to politicize this agenda. As a consequence I feel it necessary to cancel the First Lady’s Half Marathon this year.'' she said. ''I remain committed to and will not deviate from my ultimate goal, which is the betterment of maternal healthcare in this country, and, to build the Beyond Zero Referral Hospital.'' The First Lady added. In order to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the country, Launched four years ago, the ‘Beyond Zero Campaign’ aim was to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the country. It also aimed to accelerate the implementation of the national plan towards the elimination of new HIV infections among children.
